This Pypilot computer, ready to use, is equipped with a 433 MHz RF remote controls receiver and an additional Arduino dedicated to remote controls decoding.
Supplied with an 8-button remote control transmitter and a second, watertight 4-button transmitter.
The Arduino, the EEPROM, and the SD card are already flashed. The two included radio remote controls are already registered with the system. The EEPROM memory allows Pypilot to be automatically configured according to the HAT hardware.
Combining this Pypilot computer with a Pypilot motor controller result in a high-performanc boat autopilot.
There are three models of Pypilot motor controller available to adapt pypilot to all existing drive systems. You can either build your own or purchase one, keeping in mind that while the 12-24V 30A model with clutch control can be used with all existing drive systems, the 12V 7A model without clutch output is only suitable for electric tiller steering systems.
The Pypilot autopilot system, with its Pypilot computer and motor controller, uses a travel limit function based on motor current, which is precisely measured by the motor controller. This allows the system to operate without a rudder angle sensor. However, the system is also compatible with using a rudder angle sensor, or even limit switches.
The Pypilot autopilot system for boats also includes a Wi-Fi router, allowing it to transmit all autopilot-related data via Wi-Fi, as well as data received from the NMEA0183 port or from an NMEA2000 converter connected to the Raspberry Pi's USB port (optional cable with female USB-A connector).
The fully waterproof case includes the LCD display, the 2 W Raspberry Pi Zero, and the loaded pypilot-tinycore software. It also comes with a 4-pin waterproof connector for the controller and a 5 V DC power cable and a cable to import or export data with an NMEA0183 port. Improvements include the integration of a TDK ICM20948 IC on the PCB and the integration of the 433 MHz antenna inside.
The enclosure, the Raspberry Pi Zero, the cables and the microSD card are included.
Supplied with an 8-button remote control transmitter and a second, watertight 4-button transmitter.
The motor controller is not included
There are three models:
- CRN (standard) with NMEA0183 cable
- CRU: On request and at no extra cost with a cable equipped with a female USB-A socket instead of the NMEA0183 cable
- CRD: Computer with NMEA0183 cable and additional cable equipped with a female USB-A socket
